This is me! |
This is what I usually look like |
Here are the tidbits:
I graduated this past May from the University of Virginia with a degree in English Lit. Being an English major gave me a glorious amount of satisfaction while in school but has left me a bit undecided as to where to develop a career. Fortunately for me this predicament has allowed me to pursue spending some time abroad while hopefully developing more of a skill set. For the next nine months I'll be living in Granada, Spain working as a language and cultural assistant in a local high school.
I love traveling (less of planes and more of the destination.) Mixing cultures is something I've grown up doing. My mom is from Mexico and my dad is American, we eat more Asian (Thai, Korean, Vietnamese) food than anything, and Bollywood movies have been a long tradition in our house as well as opera.
Even though I'm still figuring out my next steps I have a couple passions steering me. I am an anti-trafficking advocate, I promote mental health awareness, and I have a burgeoning heart for refugees and immigrants. These are three areas out of many that I care about and with which I invest my resources. They stem out of a desire for justice, compassion, and healing.
I believe the ultimate source of justice, compassion, and healing is found through the gospel of Jesus Christ and as a believer it is my calling to partner with Christ in this world to advance his kingdom.
[Isaiah 61:1-2]
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to comfort all who mourn...
